Hoping...

I received a comment from someone going by "hoping" asking if it was confirmed that Burlington won't be coming to Euclid.

I can't be 100% certain. This is the email I recieved:

Date: Mon, 7 Jan 2008 09:39:16 -0500 (Eastern Standard Time)
To: xxxxxxxxxxx@yahoo.com

Subject: Message for Customer [90OGRVRL] <::34YLPN7VKEFMU118H::>

Dear Jen;

I am sorry but we have no information about that opening.

Thank you

I haven't contacted Burlington since. I emailed Value City at the same time (January) asking about the closing and never heard back.

Did you see the new CVS going in on the corner of Babbitt 222nd and Lakeshore? Also there is one going in on 185th and Lakeshore. CVS is taking over.

There are workers coming and going out of the old Value city during the day. Wonder what they are working on? They cleaned out the whole building. Lets hope for the best with the property.

Have you seen the news on the City's website? There's apparently a "Downtown Transportation and Redevelopment" plan in the works: http://www.ci.euclid.oh.us/pdfs/Downtown%20Redevelopment%20Plan.pdf

I skimmed it, they push alot of "limit big chains", "more multi use facilities". Too bad chains like CVS are going to build their specialized single-use facilities right in the middle of where they want to keep them out.

For the juicy stuff though, check out the final appendix, which is the survey results of downtown business owners.

Jen, you need to update this.

Well I saw the sign going up today, its going to be a Burlington. I'm not sure if thats a good thing, but at least it isn't another empty building.
